Chatter Box

Barrett has really found his voice in the past few weeks.  He loves to "talk" to us, laugh, and squeal with delight!  So excited for our little one to say his first word!

More Tummy Time Progression

My biggest fear as a working mommy was that I would miss an important milestone in Barrett's life.  When I picked him up from the nanny the other day, she told me how mobile Barrett was from all his rolling over.  What should have been a happy mommy moment turned into a little sadness.  He hadn't done this for me yet. :(

That afternoon, I attempted to recreate the magical moment.  Although he didn't roll over for me in this video, I did witness him raising up onto his elbows several times without screaming!  As you know Barrett has not been the biggest fan of tummy time and I thought this day would never happen.  It was a huge moment for my baby bear and his mommy!

Since then he has rolled from tummy to back several times, but I have been unsuccessful at a video capture of it.  Something to stayed tuned for!

Sorry for the dark picture!

Peas Please!

Since Barrett loves oatmeal so much we decided to go ahead and start introducing him to solid food.  We started with peas.  At first bite, it appeared he was not liking them too much.  Since his mommy and daddy were smiling and cheering him on he decided to eat some more.  After a few mouthfuls he was swallowing it down like a champ! Since then we have moved onto squash which he loves.  I think we are going to have a good eater on our hands...are we really surprised??

Conquering Tummy Time

To say that Barrett hates tummy time is a huge understatement!  Ever since we have tried it, he wails, screams, and flails about until it is over.  The doctor even said he has great head control, and could in fact do tummy time if he wanted to.  I feel we might have a stubborn boy on our hands!

Well I made it my goal over spring break to at least get Barrett to tolerate tummy time.  We did it every morning during his happy time, and by Saturday we had lift up!  Barrett lifted his head and chest up for a little bit and even gave mommy a quick smile!  Of course a few seconds later we had wailing and screaming, but I will call it a success.

We have lift up!!

What a Difference a Year Makes

A little over a year ago I found out we were going to have a baby.  I surprised Travis with a onesie, and now our cute little guy can wear it!  It's so amazing to see Barrett grow and change over the past few months.  You can read about the big reveal here.

Yummy Oatmeal

At Barrett's recent appointment, the doctor said we could start Barrett on oatmeal.  He was a little skeptical at first, but after a couple of tries he loved it!  He eats a bowl in the morning and night.  Hope he likes veggies as much as he likes oatmeal!

He likes it a lot better the second time around!

Four Months

Barrett had his four month check-up today with the pediatrician.  He got a great report and can even start his way towards solid food starting with oatmeal. The biggest milestone we hit this month is sleeping in his crib for naps and bed time.

His stats are:
Weight: 12 lbs. 8 oz. (3rd percentile)
Height:  24.25 in. (12th percentile)
Head Circumference: 41.75 cm (50th percentile)

Barrett's likes: hands and feet, toys his can put in his mouth, playing in the jumperoo, laughing at daddy, and itsy, bitsy spider
Barrett's dislikes: tummy time, having to burp

Dallas World Aquarium

Barrett had his very first field trip to the aquarium on Sunday.  He seemed to enjoy his surroundings, but soon fell asleep while daddy was carrying him!

Jumperoo Fun

Grandpa and JoJo gave Barrett a junperoo for Christmas.  I have been dying for Barrett to give it a whirl, and now that he has good head control we decided to try it out.  It's safe to say that Barrett is going to have lots of fun with this toy!

Grandpa's Birthday

After the Doerrs and Powells left to head back to Ausitn, we headed to Arlington to celebrate Grandpa's birthday.  The Andersens, Snodgrasses, and Edwards family were all in attendance.  I can already picture the craziness of family get togethers when all the boys are mobile.  A great time was had by all!

Fun with the Doerrs

The weekend after Valentine's Day Ashley, Miles, and Charlie along with Carolyn and Bill came for a visit to Dallas.  We got to meet sweet baby Charlie for the first time and boy is he cute!  I can't believe how much hair he has.  He is also just as big as Barrett even though they are two months apart!  We all had a nice visit and were sad when they had to go back to Austin.  It's going to be so much fun to watch these two cousin grow up so close in age!
