One Month

We made it through our first month as a family of four.  It has been a little difficult at times juggling both kids at once sometimes, but Eli has certainly added lots of joy as well!  He is such a chill and go with the flow baby.  We have started him on a sleep schedule which he is settling in to.  Eli doesn't take a late afternoon nap, just a little snooze in the swing so we have established his 7pm bed time.  Lucky for mommy, he has moved to waking up one to two times a night.  Eli has also begun to go straight to sleep after his night time feedings as opposed to keeping me up for an hour (or two) in the middle of the night!

Eli is starting to track Travis and I with his eyes, and recognize our voices.  He is also gaining great head control even though tummy time is not his favorite!  Eli had a great check up with Dr. T and here are his stats:

Weight: 9lbs 1oz (22nd percentile)
Height: 21.25 in (29th percentile)
Head Circumference: 37.5 cm (51st percentile)

Valentine's Day

The Powell family had a nice little Valentine's Day at home.  Since Eli was jsut a few weeks old, Travis and I opted to skip leaving the boys at home with a sitter for a dinner out.  Instead, we treated Barrett to some heart donuts for breakfast, some play time at the park, and a few presents perfect for our little boys.  Barrett got a little bit of chocolate along with some race cars, while Eli got his own little race car when he is ready for it.  After the boys went to bed, my sweet Valentine made a yummy steak dinner for us to enjoy!

At Home With Eli

We have settled in as a family of four!  Travis and I are playing man on man.  He mostly handles Barrett so I can focus on Eli.  Thankfully, Eli is a super chill baby.  It has been easy to steal away moments with my first born when I am not feeding, rocking, or soothing Eli.  Here are some pics of our first few weeks at home with our new bundle of joy!

Happily napping in the rock n play.

First bath at home...not a fan!

Much better!

First tummy time

He fell asleep during tummy time...much different than big brother!

Sleeping in Mommy's arms...his favorite (and mine too!)

Baby Eli

I was so happy Eli waited to come until his scheduled c-section day! This mommy was able to get last minute baby gear ready, a date with big brother Barrett, and even a little mani/pedi pampering before his arrival.

Travis and I headed to the hospital bright and early (5am)!  Check-in was a breeze and the nurses proceeded to get me hooked up to the monitors.  To my surprise, I was contracting fairly regularly yet not feeling a thing!  The nurse thought if we weren't scheduled today, that Eli would definitely come on his own anyway.  I guess this mamma had a hunch and picked the right day!  The rest of the morning was a lot of nervous waiting while getting prepped for surgery.  This was definitely a different experience than when Barrett made his arrival.  Everything was so calm and relaxed!

Around 8am Travis and I made our way to the operating room, and by 8:21am Eli was here!  It was so hard to wait for surgery to be complete to hold my sweet baby boy.  It is pretty sweet that Travis was the first to hold both our boys since mommy's always get the most snuggles the first few hours after a baby arrives.

After we got settled in our room, JoJo, Carly, and Papa came to meet our new bundle of joy!  Then Travis headed to get big brother to meet his new playmate.  When Barrett arrived, he was a little nervous to about his surroundings.  Things got a little better when he got to eat cupcakes and open his present from his new baby brother!
